well, so much for Mrs Thatcher- here's a link to something that helps assess your mental/physical health, "that you may be able to claim if you are under 65 and have a long term health problem, mental or physical, that affects your everyday activities."

essentially, if you're chronically depressed and simply cannot do anything from sheer dysfunctionality, you get an allowance to help you.

i get the strong, strong feeling that a large number of singaporean students could qualify for this.

the pragmatic, stuff-you-if-you-can't-take it singaporean in me says it's a rubbish policy. the pinko-lib in me says... well maybe that's what makes the uk seem a touch more forgiving.
