claud: don't panic - coldplay
this is potentially the return of the native song:

Oh, we're sinking like stones
All the we fall for
All those places we've grown
All of us are done for

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world,
Oh, we're sinking like stones
All the we fall for
Homes, places we've grown
All of us are done for

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
And there, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.
Vivien @fashfix:
okay now this is scary

Chen Jiahao, who goes by the online name Acid Flask, closed down his weblog caustic.soda after A*Star threatened legal action. Chen had revealed the unfairness of the system of state loans to graduate students – appropriately known as bonding - in comments to the media and on his blog. He had also published statistics that showed that Singapore's investment in research produced much paper, but little result in terms of peer review credit. The site has now closed and links to an apology to A*Star and its chairman Philip Yeo that reads in part: "The price of maintaining the content which used to be accessible at this URL has become too high for the author to afford."

LIM PEH ka li kong: Gahmen shouldn't allow homosexuality

yes yes I know, the number of satirical Singaporean sites I know can be counted on a finger (and that finger's in the danger of being cut off) so this would have had to appear eventually. I had to snigger at this. (actually talkingcock.com is overrated, I think. but that's half the point of it. colin goh is probably laughing up his sleeve in comfy new york.)

wisevice:

"The male is completely egocentric, trapped inside himself, incapable of empathizing or identifying with others, or love, friendship, affection of tenderness. He is a completely isolated unit, incapable of rapport with anyone. His responses are entirely visceral, not cerebral; his intelligence is a mere tool in the services of his drives and needs; he is incapable of mental passion, mental interaction; he can't relate to anything other than his own physical sensations. He is a half-dead, unresponsive lump, incapable of giving or receiving pleasure or happiness; consequently, he is at best an utter bore, an inoffensive blob, since only those capable of absorption in others can be charming. He is trapped in a twilight zone halfway between humans and apes, and is far worse off than the apes because, unlike the apes, he is capable of a large array of negative feelings -- hate, jealousy, contempt, disgust, guilt, shame, doubt -- and moreover, he is aware of what he is and what he isn't."
Valerie Solanas, SCUM [Society for Cutting Up Men] Manifesto

what do you think drives someone to such poisonous hatred? the one explanation i can find is that she supposedly [it's sketchy] "traveled the country as an itinerant, supporting herself by panhandling and prostitution" [Wikipedia]. yet, that extract above is full of emotional rhetoric and obvious bias without -anything- to support its claims. and the most disturbing part is, there are entire websites dedicated to her and spreading her gospel, if you will. what drives them? intense psychological abuse at the hands of some?
