Yes! The plot was typical love story, but the direction and execution was brilliant! The fact is that it was a war movie, and it did that really well - depicting the suffering and so on. And the middle part, which some would say was draggy, I thought was in fact the best part, because they were suffering individually and you almost forget that it's a love story. The love story's just a backdrop to the war and it was very very poignant altogether. Very moving.
